I am not official in the #SundaySupper thing because my mom forgot to sign me up. o_O But I wanted to post this anyway. Be sure and go to the bottom of the post and check out all the other amazing Apple recipes that the #sundaysupper peeps put together.
This recipe for my Autumn Harvest Homemade Apple Sauce is simple, sweet, and delicious. Kids enjoy bringing it to school and for after school snacks. I hope you and your kids will enjoy it as much as I did! Thanks!

Ingredients
- 3 lb Apples (green work better)
- 1 cup White Sugar
- 1 tbsp Cinnamon
- 1 tsp Apple Pie Spice
- Water (enough to fill a pot ⅓ full)
Instructions
- Peel, core, and slice the apples thinly, place in a bowl. to keep from browning use lemon juice
- Boil apples, in a pot for 15 minutes or until soft, with water just covering them
- Strain the apples(but don’t try the water it may smell like apple juice but it DOES NOT taste like apple juice! I cannot stress this enough!)when you are done straining them return them to the bowl
- Put half of the apples in a food possessor or blender. Add the sugar and repeat
- Pour back into the bowl and add the cinnamon and apple pie spice. stir
- Refrigerate for 3-4 hours or until chilled
- Enjoy!

I have been wanting to make some homemade apple sauce and i agree using green ones is the best way. that way it isn’t too sweet.
Thanks and that is what I was think with the too sweet thing!

Hi Brie, this is a fantastic recipe! I love applesauce and I’m sure home made is much better than the pre-packaged stuff you buy at the grocery store. I can’t wait to try this! And thanks for the warning on not drinking the apple water – I probably would’ve been tempted to.
Thank you! I was very tempted by the sweet apple juice water but it DIDN’T taste sweet! lol thanks again.
Great recipe Brie! Homemade applesauce is the best!
thanks! :P
Great post! I’ve made applesauce many times, but I’ve never strained off the water first. I’ll have to give it a try!

Great job with the applesauce, Brie! I’ve never made my own before, but I’ll be it tastes SO much better than the packaged stuff! I think it’s great that you like to cook AND have a blog. My nephew Wolf is your age, and he loves to cook too. He thinks he wants to be a chef one day.
Thanks so much! He sounds like a pretty cool kid. Have you ever thought of letting him guest post on your blog? I’d love to see something he’s made!
